BBC Countdown

自1999年開始，英國廣播公司希望一洗過去過於嚴肅的形象，一改作風，於是聘請馬田藍比奈恩先生創作新形象，而大衛‧盧維先生則負責設計新的音樂系列︰

In 1999 the BBC decided to change and create a single new look and feel for all of its news programmes. This was conceived and led by a designer called Martin Lambie Nairn, who's company specializes in TV Brand identities. After an initial interview with him I was lucky enough to be chosen from a list of several composers to create the musical identity.

I was asked to come up with a radical new idea, something that had never been heard before in news programmes. It had to be modern and elegant, but retaining the authority and prestige of the BBC. Most importantly, it had to have an instantly recognizable sound that could be translated in different ways across all of the BBC TV and Radio Networks.

那麼1999年的Countdown ( 內地︰倒計時，港台︰倒數 )就開始了，共有90秒，是紅色底，以粗線的數字表示出還有多久開始播放新聞。
後來2003年左右再推出一個新的倒數，這次有圖像，粗大數字改於下放，約是Century Gothic 斜體的模樣。感覺活躍。
2004年的版本可說是一個胚胎，醞釀出2005年的版本。
2005年的版本較硬，使用的樂器較Rock。(我不知道如何形容啦！)
07年的版本開始成熟，定了下來，使用的是Univers Condensed Bold，紅色一個小塊在左下方。值得一講的是，它每一秒的畫面中都有紅色，有紅色的三個黑人小孩在跳、紅色天安門、記者紅色的衣服，紅色傳送帶的訊號射到「鑊」上，最後10秒會出現美國白宮(華府)，最後是BBC總部。
08年的新版本，筆者我也被它弄得團團轉，先在Youtube找了一個原來是Fan-made的影片，還誤以為是BBC官方的，弄得被罵下場。全段該是90秒的，BBC只放60秒，又有Fan-made ( Mock-ish ) 的。不過它們都騙到我啦。
